Looking into getting an eReader. I still enjoy reading books through the kindle feature on my iPhone but wouldn't mind having the option of a larger eBook too.
If I got a Nook, would I be able to (easily) read my Kindle bought books on it too?

In all the discussion surrounding the experimental nature of FATALE, it’s easy to forget the amount of hard and loving work was put into its creation. So we decided to pay homage to one of the most complex elements in the production -the Dance of the Seven Veils- by putting together a “Making Of” video, documenting the collaborative effort.
From the musical composition and performance of Gerry De Mol over the improvised choreography of Eléonore Valere Lachky to Laura Raines Smith’s painstaking effort to animate 4750 frames by hand, the clip shows how music, dance, video, animation and realtime rendering and scripting come together to deliver a performance unique to the medium.
I woke up at 7am this morning to continue working on programming, but I saw prepuzzle #4 in my inbox and decided to solve it instead. I know this time I should've waited for the rest of my teammates to wake up, but in my defense, due to my lack of consideration for the rest of my team, we are now ranked #1/16 in our school and #25/527 overall (not that it matters at this stage, but vanity! all things in life are vanity!). Plus it was a word puzzle, and I do love my word puzzles. :)
I'm in a really good mood right now. There are times when you know you have to work and you're crying and tearing your hair out because you just can't force yourself to do it. And then there are times when you know you have to work, and you just grin and stretch lazily and do whatever you want. Because it's just school, you know? Do the best you can - work hard, don't get me wrong, work very hard - but remember who you're doing it for.
Similarly, here are some things that have been occupying my time this weekend instead of COS 318:
1) Acting as a tour guide. I don't understand why Asian people are so fascinated with my campus. It's beautiful, I'm not denying that, but to stop every five feet to take pictures? Who would want a picture of Dillon Gymnasium?? It just boggles the mind. In an hour, I managed to get them through about 25% of campus. Not the most awkward experience of my life, but probably only because I was still in shock from having been torn away from my programming so suddenly.
2) I've been posting non-stop about my new Ubuntu partition, and that's because I am so excited about this thing! For those who don't know, Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux-based operating systems out there. ( For those who don't care, this is an lj-cut. :) )
3) And finally, I have a new cell phone to replace the broken one! It's the first time that I (or anyone in my family, come to think of it) have ever purchased a cell phone. Usually we just get a cheap-o one that comes free with our plan, or some friend of ours has an old one that they're not using anymore. It's a Motorola, and I've concluded from my vast experience of ~5 Nokia phones and 1 Motorola that Motorola phones are really stylish, but Nokia phones are much more user friendly. Seriously, the menu on this thing? sucks. But it's so beautiful that I can't help but forgive it. Just how many levels of superficial does that make me?
I haven't configured it much since I've been busy with Ubuntu - just changed the menu from Spanish to English, really, which was a big relief haha. But I'm really happy with it, and its camera is a million times better than my old one, so maybe I will go out and take some pictures or something. Okay. Should get dressed for class now.
Good morning, world!

Month of October ( horrible grammer >.< forgive me!)
Monday (19th)
A normal wonderful Chuo Elementary school workday with the exception that I went to Koshino to take faculty pictures. This week I'm teaching shapes to the 3rd graders and 4th and 6th graders are learning countries, food, sports and instruments. After work I did something (perhaps food) and then went to my Eikawa class. It was nice, but I felt sad for one of my students. He lost his cat and he thinks shes gone for good. He looked so sad so I changed the subject as soon as possible and we focused on reading an English brochures of famous Japanese places.
Tuesday:
Work, of course but always an enjoyable experience. Got the first of my English journals back . Of course I didn't get all of them but the few Ive gotten have been fun to read. Ill have to make a post about school materials and things of work/ informative matters soon.
I went out and bought some more fabric and a few others things for Halloween costume. I have no idea how it's going to end up, but at least I can say I tried?!
Wednesday:
So I was at Chuo, good day of course. After work I went to Mihoko's work and waited for Rosa there to talk about our winter trip. To confirm we will NOT go to China as we planned. We will have to work out the kinks and see what will happen. I booked my Tokyo trip next month as well, and I am looking forward to that. . After a very long time in Mihoko's office we headed to dinner at Green Cafe. It was good to be there again, and I should be headed there again on Friday for Rosa's birthday party. This was also the day that started the nights of no flippin sleep. Half because of working on the costume, ¼ distractions buy other things and the last fourth out of simple frustration.
Thursday(22rd):
Coming down to the wire when it comes to the costume, and tired as all hell. Working at Takase was fine, and I think the kids are starting to warm up to me. Its really hard to get use to the students and vice versa when they only see their professor every blue moon (literally, but that rant is for another time). Once I got out of work I took a trip to Apita (think wal-mart kinda) and bought a new camera. The one I brought from home just won't run off of Japanese batteries. The batteries last all of 5 minutes and then the camera is dead again. Ill keep the camera and give it to my sister when I get back to the states. So if she wants to go somewhere she can take pictures. The camera is an Olympus fe 300 and I'll have plenty a chance to work it in on during the Halloween Party Saturday night.
Friday 23rd:
Today I was at Koshino Jr. High and work was per usual. After work I had very little time to do anything further on my costume. I don’t remember what I did for the hour so gap I had in between work and going to Mihoko’s except for going to the market and getting food for the party. After that I headed home, slapped on some decorative make-up and met Mihoko at her job. From there we drove to her house and I played with baby Reina (her son and a cute, chubby baby) while she prepared some food. Not too long after her two girlfriends came with their four children. I was designated as the candy giver so the kids had to come and say trick or treat if they wanted any snacks. They were quite adorable and wore little bandanas with Halloween decorations on them. I only spent two hours or so there. Despite leaving early I had a good time with them all. Very family like and close knit. The food was good, and I played Othello and Tap Tap revenge with the kids on my IPhone. They thought it was the funest thing. When it was time for me to head out, Mihoko gracious made me a plate to go and walked me to my car. She also said that her friends are already quite fond of me, and I’m glad to hear that. It just means more chances to hang out, have a good time and with any hope learn something new.
Once I left Mihoko’s house I rushed back to Kurobe and went to Green Café where Rosa was holding her birthday party. I was only a little over an hour late so it wasn’t too bad. Once I walked in a received a large cry of “Ooos” from the table because of my face make-up. It was so bad that Rosa took enough pictures for me to see spots for fifteen minutes afterwards. In any case there was about 10-15 people at the party and of course we had good conversations and a lot of laughs.. apparently mostly my doing. I can be a sarcastic individual sometimes . Luckily I made it just in time for desert. I ended up having one slice of pumpkin pie that Rosa made and two slices of cake. One from a interesting concoction Rosa constructed and a store bought cake that Adam brought. Needless to say by the end of the night I was fairly full. From there we said our goodbyes, I dropped off a birthday card to Rosa and went home. However instead of working on my costume I decided that I was just to exhausted to be up and took a nap. Unfortunately this led to me sleeping the whole of the night.

Why is it that my computer crashes when I'm only about two-hundred words away from finishing a fic I hadn't saved at any point? I mean, hey, my computer is a nice computer. Yesterday, I'd have told you I couldn't remember the last time it crashed on me.
I've still got fragments floating around in my head, so I may try to recreate the fic but ... ARGH. Worse things have happened and are happening right now, I know, I know. *sigh*
In case you were curious: the fic in question was a Narnia/Doctor Who crossover with Susan as the Doctor's companion, which I'd pledged to write for
be_themoon in the Fall Fandom Free For All. Which makes the ARGH even worse, because there's no way I can pull off a second plotbunny for that set-up.
On a more cheerful note: thanks to
paperflowered, I'm signed up for Yuletide.
Also:
daria234 wrote me crackalicious Psych-fic for the prompt: Shawn/Gus, Gus gains actual psychic powers.

Working on a few fixes, sorry! Will post when it is open again.
It's very important, if you redo your signup, that you use exactly the same name/pseud and email address. If you don't receive your confirmation, and sign up again with a new email, this will cause problems when it comes time for generating assignments.
If you redid your signup with different emails, we need to know this. Please write to yuletide @ yuletidetreasure dot org as soon as you can.
Note: we do not allow individuals to sign up more than once. It can, and has, caused issues with assignments, including someone getting assigned to themselves. We will look on such shenanigans with a dire look!

A military marching band and entourage just went up Jarvis and turned onto Wellesley. Their ... unit? was about the length of a small city block (0.2km/656'). They were accompanied in front and rear by a pair of police cars, but it was the bicycle cops who were stopping traffic.
Band comes up to intersection. Cops walk their bikes into intersection, park them (on kickstands) across traffic heading east-west, and proceed to manually stop traffic southbound.
...They stopped traffic with their unattended bicycles. XD Oh Toronto.
anyway. Band and unit went along Welly to Church and then turned up Church. No clue what they were on about, although it might have something to do with a) Remembrance Day or b) the fact that "the Royals" (Charles and Camilla) are kicking around Ontario somewhere.
And when the tail end had passed, the bike cops had to hop back on their bikes and pump it up the block to catch up to the front so they could stop traffic again. Hee.

—Hello, Daughter, are you free this afternoon?
—Huh? I...
—Good. Good, I have a bunch of saints here, can you give us a tour of Princeton campus? Thanks.
—...I-I mean I kind of planned to work on Operating Systems without stopping for the next few days because that's how long it's going to take to finish it and it's due on Tues—...
—So we'll be at the visitor's parking lot in 20 minutes.

Ah well. By the way, I'm posting this from my new Ubuntu partition!
By the way, I've got a new phone! It's really hot..
By the way, I have to leave now if I want to get to visitor's parking in time to meet them! Ta.

The following stuff has been fixed:
- the handful of fandoms with the word "(any)" after them will now show up on the requested/offered list, renamed to "(all)" and LEGION + REBELS (comic) is now LEGION plus REBELS (comic)
You do NOT need to redo if you requested/offered these.
- any wrong/nonworking emails we knew of have been fixed. If you have not gotten a copy of your signup emailed to you, check your spam folders and make sure your email is correct before assignments go out.
- unfortunately I can't fix the handful of fandoms that were incorrectly removed without potentially messing up the matching. sorry, guys. :( hopefully there's enough out there that everyone can still find others they will enjoy.
REMINDER -- if you had a signup window already open, you can go ahead and submit it, just please make sure your offers/requests look right when you get the copy of your signup email and redo if they don't.
Also, to pass along the answer to one question I've seen: if you are super-flexible in what you can offer and want to help make matching easier for us, it doesn't actually help to offer everything under the sun; what is most helpful is offering fandoms off the neediest list, and skipping fandoms that have a ton of offers. Not necessary, though! :)

Doing a little maintenance, will be back open in a few. Sorry!
PLEASE NOTE: if you have a signup window in progress started before I locked signup, you do NOT have to start over from scratch, but *DO CHECK YOUR SIGNUP VERY CAREFULLY AFTER YOU SUBMIT*; if there are things on there you didn't mean to sign up for, you will need to redo. (This shouldn't happen but I am feeling a little paranoid here. :P)

Sorry guys, miscommunication! The resend feature only works for assignments, once those have been made, not for signups. If you didn't get a signup email, check your spam folders and sign up again if you made a mistake.
If you got your email wrong and can't redo your signup, email us at yuletide @ yuletidetreasure dot org and we'll let you know when it's fixed.
